How do you care for a Guzmania (Vriesea) so it turns red? Master these care methods

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
To make a Guzmania turn red, choose a plant in the early-to-mid flowering stage, as its color will then be very vivid. Also give it a growing environment of 15-25°C; below 10°C its color will turn black. Let it grow in a bright environment so its color turns red, and do not expose it to direct sunlight.

1. Choose a plant in the early-to-mid flowering stage

The flower at the center of the Guzmania is actually a combination of bracts, one large flower bract, whose color appears along with the flowering period. In the early stage and the late stage of flowering, the color becomes dull; generally the color is pale in the early stage, and by the late stage it turns black or green, so you should choose a plant in the early-to-mid flowering stage, as its color will then be very vivid at home.

2. A suitable growing environment

You need to create an ideal environment at home so the Guzmania grows well. Especially when caring for it in the north, be sure to let it grow in an environment of 15-25°C, and its color will be bright red; if it is below 10°C, the temperature is too low and the flower head's color will turn black, and its ornamental effect will decline.

Guzmania needs bright light to grow, but must not be exposed to direct sunlight; if the light is too dim orexposed to direct sunlight, the color of the flower bract will change in lightness or darkness, affecting its ornamental effect.
