I. Blooming Season

The hosta is a herbaceous perennial in the Liliaceae family, and its blooming season runs from early summer to midsummer, with the main period in most of China falling between June and August. Because of differences in region and variety, its blooming season shifts slightly earlier or later.

Generally speaking, purple hostas begin blooming in early to mid-June, while white hostas bloom somewhat later, usually from July to August, opening one after another. So in China, from June to September, different hosta varieties can be seen blooming in different regions.

II. Blooming Season Care

1. Humidity: Watering should be controlled during the blooming season; there is no need to water on a regular schedule, and the amount of water should not be too large, as waterlogging can cause root rot.

2. Fertilizing: Hostas consume a great deal of nutrients while in bloom, so apply plenty of fertilizer before flowering and fertilize once during the blooming season as well. Note that it can only be absorbed better after being diluted.
