What kind of water is best for watering a Golden Pothos? A detailed guide to the correct watering method

When watering a Golden Pothos, it depends on the specific situation. For routine watering, you need to use tap water that has been left to stand and air out naturally. If the goal is to change alkaline soil into acidic soil, you need to add fermented rice-washing water to the soil, as rice-washing water can adjust the pH. In summer, water evaporates relatively quickly, so you can water a bit more; when watering, use an appropriate amount, and there must be no standing water in the potting soil.

1. Routine watering

When watering a Golden Pothos normally, you cannot water it directly with tap water, because tap water contains the chemical element chlorine, and this substance will affect the plant's health. So the water you give it must be left to stand and air out naturally; water treated this way will release the chlorine in the water, and then it will not harm the plant.

2. Watering during special periods

It is an acid-loving plant and grows better in acidic soil. If the soil is alkaline hard soil, it will not grow well, so you need to adjust the soil for it. First test the soil's pH value. If the pH value is greater than or equal to 7, it is alkaline soil; at this time you can water it with fermented rice-washing water, because rice-washing water can change the soil. Once the soil becomes acidic, you can continue with normal watering.

2. Watering time

The time to water it depends on the weather. When watering in summer, moisture evaporates quickly, so you need to water the potting soil every other day. If watering in autumn and winter, the moisture in the potting soil does not evaporate as quickly, so watering two or three times a week is enough. When watering, first observe the condition of its potting soil; water only when the potting soil is dry. If the potting soil is moist, there is no need to water for the time being.

3. Precautions

When watering the potting soil, the amount should not be too much. Too much easily causes standing water in the soil, which affects the plant's root respiration and easily leads to root rot. When watering, touch the soil while watering, until the soil is moist but not clumped.
