What to Do If Your Guzmania (Guzmania lingulata) Flower Rots? Causes and Solutions
There are many reasons why a Guzmania flower rots: if the rot is caused by improper watering or fertilizing, use tweezers to remove the rotted parts completely. If the rot is caused by high humidity, you can discard it, or you can prune it appropriately so the leaf base sprouts new suckers again and a new plant can be grown.
1. Clean It Out Completely
Cause: During watering or care, water or fertilizer seeps into the gaps between the bracts and does not dry for a long time; if the tissue has a wound or the flower has finished blooming, rot will occur.
Solution: When this happens, we need to use tweezers to remove the rotted parts completely.

2. Prune Appropriately
Cause: When the Guzmania's flowering period has passed, the entire flower will gradually wither. If the humidity is relatively high, it will rot; this is a normal life cycle, as it is this kind of fast-growing ornamental flower.
Solution: We can discard it. If you want to keep growing it, prune it appropriately so the leaf base sprouts new suckers again, and then grow a new plant.
