Dieffenbachia has brightly coloured leaves and an elegant form, with high ornamental value. Keeping one at home beautifies and purifies the environment. It looks great decorating a living room. So how do you make the leaves even better looking, bright and captivating? Below we introduce the care methods for Dieffenbachia!

Care methods for Dieffenbachia:

(1). Choosing pots and soil:

For the pot, generally choose a clay pot with good breathability and water permeability, with a rim diameter of generally around 15-20 cm. The soil should be a loose, well-aerated, slightly acidic medium. When planting, add an appropriate amount of slow-release fertiliser to the bottom of the pot as a base fertiliser, which provides sufficient nutrients for the plant's growth.

(2). Proper watering:

Dieffenbachia likes moisture and is not drought-tolerant. In spring, water should be sufficient, watering once every 1-2 days. In hot summer, keep the air humidity at 60%-70% at all times, and water every day so the plant grows healthily and vigorously; otherwise the leaf surface will become rough and lose its lustre. In winter, control watering and keep the soil only slightly moist.

(3). Reasonable fertilising:

From March to August, fertilise once about every 15 days, which keeps the leaf colour fresh and glossy. In winter, fertilise less, which lets the plant overwinter safely and avoids fertiliser burn.

(4). Moderate light:

Dieffenbachia needs to be kept in a spot with diffused light and good ventilation, which ensures healthy growth and good leaf colour. In spring and autumn, give it more light in the morning and evening, and shade it at noon. In winter, place it in a sunny spot indoors. In summer, put the potted plant in a place indoors without strong light to avoid scorching.

(5). Regular pruning:

Dieffenbachia needs its old leaves removed regularly. When it grows taller, prune by keeping only 2-3 nodes at the base and cutting off all the rest, which encourages the plant to sprout more leaves that are bright and tender green.
