5 shade-tolerant, easy-care plants that can survive in dark environments

I have written many articles about houseplants that are hard to kill indoors, especially when it comes to rooms without a lot of natural light or that are completely dark. Many plants are extremely shade-tolerant, such as the common cast iron plant, ZZ plant and snake plant.
However, the five plants I am about to introduce below can grow in places with particularly poor light. They like cool, humid environments. See which one you like?
1. Maidenhair fern
The maidenhair fern is a fern with excellent ornamental value, with tender green leaves shaped like little fans. Unlike common houseplants, its fronds are very thin, and it can grow well in low-light environments. However, if you want to keep your maidenhair fern looking good, it is best to grow it in a ventilated spot with good light, maintain high air humidity, and avoid yellowing leaves.
2. Rex begonia
Rex begonia is a very common foliage plant, with colorful, gorgeous leaves. The leaves are very large, with bright colors on the leaf surface. It can grow vigorously in semi-shade or in a bright spot. During care, avoid overwatering, be sure to water thoroughly only after the soil has dried out, and avoid standing water on the leaves, otherwise they rot very easily.
3. Mint
Mint usually grows in semi-shady, damp places. If it is grown in a spot with suitable scattered light, it will grow even more vigorously. Potted mint is best grown in a ventilated spot with good light. Remember to water regularly and avoid the soil drying out. You can mist water around it regularly to maintain a certain air humidity, so that it can give off a fresh fragrance.
4. Swedish ivy
Swedish ivy looks very charming. It can be grown in a spot with suitable scattered light or bright light. It can grow as a trailing plant, is very shade-tolerant, and can produce bright white small flowers.
Swedish ivy is a very fast-growing trailing plant that can be grown as a hanging basket on a windowsill. It is very suitable for beginners. For care, be sure to use loose, well-draining soil, and keep the soil moist during the growing season.
5. Moss
If your environment has particularly little light, then you might consider growing some moss. You can grow it directly in a glass container. You only need to remember to water regularly and keep the light bright, and it will grow well.
When caring for moss, be sure to maintain high air humidity, and keep the growing spot ventilated with good light.
