-Bougainvillea-

Bougainvillea blooms for a long time, with peculiar and beautiful flowers. When in bloom, the branches are covered with flowers, making it suitable for garden planting or potted ornamental display. It can also be used for bonsai, hedges and pruned shapes. In southern China, it can be cultivated as a climbing flower for walls. During the Spring Festival, green leaves set off the bright red bracts, like a peacock spreading its tail, especially brilliant and eye-catching.

It prefers a warm, humid and sunny environment and is not cold-tolerant. In China, except in the southern regions where it can be cultivated outdoors to overwinter, other areas require pot cultivation and greenhouse cultivation. The most suitable soil is sandy loam with good drainage.

Bougainvillea is commonly propagated by cuttings, and seedling raising is easy. In May and June, cut mature woody branches, 20 cm long, insert them into a sand pot, cover with glass, keep moist, and they can take root in about one month. After two years of cultivation, they can bloom.

The flowering period of the whole plant is very long, reaching three to four months. During the flowering period, there are many fallen flowers and leaves, which need to be removed promptly to keep it fresh and beautiful.

-Chrysanthemum-

The chrysanthemum ranks third among China's top ten famous flowers, is one of the Four Gentlemen among flowers (plum blossom, orchid, bamboo and chrysanthemum), and is also one of the world's four major cut flowers (chrysanthemum, rose, carnation and gladiolus), with the highest output. Chinese people have the custom of viewing chrysanthemums and drinking chrysanthemum wine on the Double Ninth Festival. The chrysanthemum has also been given the meaning of auspiciousness and longevity.

The suitable growth temperature for chrysanthemums is 18-21°C, with a maximum of 32°C and a minimum of 10°C. The underground rhizome can generally tolerate a low temperature limit of -10°C. It likes sufficient sunlight, but is also slightly shade-tolerant. It is relatively drought-tolerant and most averse to waterlogging. It prefers sandy loam with high, dry terrain, deep soil layers, rich in humus, loose and fertile, and well-drained. It can grow in slightly acidic to neutral soil, with pH 6.2-6.7 being better.

Chrysanthemums can be propagated by cuttings, generally carried out in April-May. Cut tender shoots 8-10 cm as cuttings, and manage them well after insertion. At a temperature of 18-21°C, most varieties take root in about 3 weeks, and can be transplanted into pots in about 4 weeks.

Chrysanthemums can also be used as medicine to treat illnesses. Taking them for a long time or drinking chrysanthemum tea can promote longevity. The Song Dynasty poet Su Zhe wrote: "Nanyang white chrysanthemum has miraculous effects; many residents by the pond are old men."

-Dahlia-

Dahlias have a long flowering period, large flower diameter and many flowers. There are cultivar groups with flower types such as ball type, chrysanthemum type, peony type, decorative type, disc type, plate type, hydrangea type and peony type, famous for their magnificent colors and beautiful flowers. In northern regions, the flowering period is from May to mid-November, and under suitable temperature conditions they can bloom continuously throughout the year.

Dahlias are suitable for cultivation in loose, well-drained fertile sandy soil. They like a semi-shaded, cool environment. In late September, the flowers are largest, most colorful and most abundant, but they are not frost-tolerant, and after frost the stems and leaves wither immediately. During the growing period, they are not strict about temperature and can grow at 8~35°C, with 15~25°C being suitable. Dahlias are not drought-tolerant and not waterlogging-tolerant. Generally, for pot cultivation, when the soil looks dry, water thoroughly, following the principle of watering when wet and letting dry when dry.

-Epiphyllum-

At every summer and autumn season, when the stars fill the sky and the night is quiet, the Epiphyllum blooms, displaying its beautiful posture and elegant colors. While people are still asleep in their dreams, the pure and fragrant Epiphyllum has already closed and withered in an instant, hence the saying "a fleeting Epiphyllum display." Because it blooms at night, it is also called the Beauty Under the Moon.

The Epiphyllum secretly blooms in the middle of the night every time and is called the Beauty Under the Moon. Although the Epiphyllum's flowering time is relatively short, the flowers are white as jade, with a delicate fragrance spreading all around, beautiful and elegant, very beautiful and spectacular. Epiphyllum can be propagated by leaf cuttings, which root quickly and are relatively easy to do.

Cut off slightly older two-year-old leaves; too tender ones are prone to rotting and shrinking after insertion. Cut them into 10-15 cm sections, place them in a cool, ventilated place, and let the wounds dry until the wounds have dried and formed a thin film before cuttings can be inserted. Find some loose, breathable nutrient soil, spray it wet with water, do not insert too deep; you can insert at an angle, cover with a little soil, and after rooting, straighten it and add more soil. It can be placed in a place with scattered light for care. It takes about 4 weeks to root after insertion, and you can wait until roots have grown before watering.
