Balcony Gardening Notes: Introduction to Common Fertilizers for Home Gardening

Fertilizer is the "food" for flower growth and development. The purpose of fertilizing is to supplement the lack of nutrients in the soil and meet the needs of flowers for nutrient elements during their growth and development. So, do you know what fertilizers are commonly used for home gardening?
At present, the organic fertilizers commonly used for indoor gardening mainly include various cake fertilizers, bone meal, plant ash, and so on.
1. Cake fertilizer
It contains a relatively high amount of nitrogen and also contains more phosphorus and potassium. After being applied to the soil, it decomposes quickly and is easily absorbed by flowers, so it is mostly used as a top dressing, and can also be used as a base fertilizer, but it must be fully decomposed before application, otherwise it can easily cause root rot in flowers.
2. Bone meal
It contains a lot of phosphorus and is a very good slow-release phosphorus fertilizer.
3. Plant ash
It is a widely used potassium fertilizer. In addition to being rich in potassium, it also contains phosphorus, calcium, iron, magnesium, boron and other nutrient elements. It is easily soluble in water and is an alkaline fertilizer. It can be used as either a base fertilizer or a top dressing. Commonly used inorganic fertilizers (chemical fertilizers) mainly include ammonium sulfate, urea, superphosphate, potassium sulfate, compound fertilizers, as well as ferrous sulfate, boric acid, and so on.
4. Chemical fertilizers
They have the characteristics of high nutrient content, fast fertilizer effect, being clean and hygienic, and simple to use, so they are relatively widely used.
Tip: When applying this type of chemical fertilizer, you should apply it according to the dosage introduced in the product instructions. Do not use too much, otherwise fertilizer damage is likely to occur.
