Newly bought lucky bamboo keeps getting yellow leaves and hasn't grown roots after weeks of care - what should I do?

Many friends don't know how to select lucky bamboo; some buy it when the base of the stem hasn't even grown roots yet, the leaves on the branches keep turning yellow, and all they can do is keep picking off the yellow leaves. The care method also needs special attention, and with proper adjustments you can promote continuous root growth.
1. Water quality requirements
First of all, the water must not be too cloudy and needs to be changed regularly. This is the reason why roots don't grow for a long time and the leaves keep turning yellow.
Don't keep too many leaves on newly bought lucky bamboo. If it hasn't grown a root system yet, cut the bottom at a slant at about 45 degrees, then change the water every 2 to 3 days to keep the water active, which helps promote faster rooting.
Also pay attention to the water you use. If it's tap water, it's best to let it sit for two or three days before use, to avoid fluorine and chlorine compounds in the water affecting rooting. You can also use rainwater or distilled water.
2. Remove the bottom leaves
For newly bought lucky bamboo, if it doesn't have a fairly vigorous root system, peel off the leaves at the bottom of the stem, keeping only about 1/3 of the leaves at the top, which is enough. Keeping too many leaves at the bottom will consume too many nutrients and affect rooting. This is also a key reason why lucky bamboo leaves keep turning yellow.
3. Maintain a suitable environment
Also pay attention to maintaining a certain air humidity and avoiding dry air. Place it in a ventilated spot with light, avoid direct sunlight, and keep the relative humidity at around 50%~70%.
4. Care tips after rooting
Once lucky bamboo has rooted, you basically don't need to change the water much. Just wait until the water becomes cloudy, then promptly replace it with clean water.
Of course, you also need to pay attention to the care temperature. In winter, generally don't buy lucky bamboo without a root system, because the temperature is too good and the air humidity is too low, making it very hard to root.
If you want to promote rooting in lucky bamboo, you also need to maintain a suitable temperature. Keep the minimum temperature above 15 degrees, and the best rooting temperature is between 20 and 25 degrees.
