Succulents are very beautiful plants, and many people love growing them. But do you know how to mix potting soil for growing succulents?

Using suitable soil to grow plants is very helpful for their growth and can avoid many problems.

The potting soil for growing succulents must be light in texture; you cannot use heavy, sticky soil to grow them. The most important thing about soil for growing succulents is good drainage.

The first thing you need for a succulent potting soil is coarse sand. It is a kind of sand with relatively large particles selected from river sand, usually available at construction sites, and you can also sieve it out of river sand with a sieve. Note that you must never use sea sand.

The second thing is perlite. If you do not have perlite at home, you can use pumice instead. Adding some perlite to the soil can improve the soil's drainage capacity, keep the soil loose, prevent the soil from becoming too compact, and improve the soil's air permeability.

Finally, mix peat, coarse sand and perlite in a 3:2:1 ratio, and it is ready for planting succulents.

This soil can be used not only for growing succulents and cacti, but also for taking cuttings of succulents.

What is the potting soil like where you grow succulents at home? Remember, the most important things for succulent soil are drainage and air permeability; do not use materials with particularly strong water retention.
