Do these 3 things when caring for peonies, and be willing to remove the side buds: the flowers will be more beautiful than roses, and they can even deepen the bond between husband and wife.

From the Book of Songs: The Zhen and Wei rivers flow on in full flood; the young men and women now hold orchids in hand. A girl says, "Shall we go and see?" The young man says, "I have already been, but let us go again and see." Beyond the Wei, it is truly broad and joyous! The young men and maidens jest with one another and give each other peonies.
The peony is a very beautiful flower, appearing delicate and understated. During the Spring and Autumn period, young men and women already regarded giving peonies as a token of love, just like today's roses!
Peony flowers bloom larger than roses, and their fragrance is fresh and subtle, with petals in uneven layers that give us a fairly good visual effect. Nowadays, more and more flower lovers are growing peonies in pots, and it is not hard to grow them well if we do the following points.
1. Sufficient light. The peony is a sun-loving flower and is best given full sun. When caring for it, gardeners must place it on a balcony with good lighting, so that the flowers will be more gorgeous and larger. If it is the high heat of summer at noon, put up a shade net, otherwise the plant can easily be scorched.
One thing I rather like about peonies is that they can tolerate temperatures of minus 15 degrees, making them quite cold-hardy, so friends in the north can boldly get into growing them. When starting out, you can choose stems with tight buds that are beginning to show color; if it is a seedling, it takes about 4 years to bloom.
2. Water control. The roots of the peony are fleshy roots with a water-storing function, and too much watering easily causes root rot, so peonies are relatively drought-tolerant and afraid of waterlogging. During the bud stage and flowering stage, you can water a little more; at ordinary times, just keep the soil moist. You can use a plant monitor to help; just insert it into the potting soil, and you can check the soil's moisture, fertility, humidity and temperature through your phone. It is simple and convenient, and a pretty good helper for growing flowers.
3. Fertilizing. To get good blooms, you must give peonies additional fertilizer. If it is a seedling, during the growing period you can use an organic nutrient solution rich in nitrogen, applying a light fertilizer once every half month to promote the growth of stems and leaves; when it enters the bud stage, use a bloom-promoting nutrient solution with more phosphorus, once a week, so the flowers come out large and vivid, extremely beautiful.
Some people's peonies do bloom, but they are always not as large as other people's. Why? Many people omit one step, and this step is very important. When the peony shows buds, we must ruthlessly cut off the side buds, leaving only 1 flower per stem; only then will the peony bloom plump and vivid, with a single flower reaching over ten centimeters.
