Usually we grow bok choy, rapeseed greens, cucumbers, eggplants, tomatoes, etc. on the balcony, but these vegetables are all prone to pest damage. If pesticides are used, not only do we worry about pesticide residue, but the balcony area is limited and the smell is unpleasant too. So, you might as well make some natural insecticides yourself. The method is simple, effective, non-toxic, and saves money too!

1. Chili pepper water for pest control

Chili peppers not only do not attract pests themselves, they are also a natural insecticide. The method is: take 50 grams of fresh chili peppers and crush them (the hottest facing heaven chili can be chosen for better results), add 30 times the amount of water, stir and boil for half an hour, filter the liquid through a sieve and spray it. This can effectively control pests such as aphids and red spiders.

2. Onion water for pest control

Onions have a strong smell and do not attract pests themselves, so making them into an insecticide is ideal. The method is: take 20 grams of onions, crush them, add 1.0 kg of water and soak for one day, then filter to obtain the liquid. Spray the resulting filtrate on the plants. It also has a relatively good control effect on aphids and red spiders.

3. Garlic liquid for pest control

Crush 50 grams of garlic into fine garlic paste, then add 10 kg of water and stir into a slurry. Take the filtrate and use it for spraying to control aphids, red spiders and beetles, with very good results. If sprayed on the ground or the surface of the potting soil, it can also control ants.

4. Chive liquid for pest control

Take 1 kg of fresh chives, crush them into a paste, add 0.4-0.5 grams of water and soak, filter, and spray with this juice. It has a relatively good effect of killing aphids.

5. Scallion liquid for pest control

Take 2 kg of fresh scallions, crush them into a paste, add 20 kg of water and soak, then filter and spray on the leaves. It has the effect of controlling aphids and soft-bodied pests.

6. Sichuan pepper water for pest control

Take 100 grams of Sichuan pepper, add 3 kg of water and boil, then filter and cool, and spray on the leaves to control beetles. (Sichuan pepper is a bit expensive, haha)

These homemade natural vegetable insecticides are green and environmentally friendly, and the method is simple. Fellow gardeners can give them a try!
