A monk grew orchids as offerings to the Buddha. When the orchids were smashed, why did he not get angry?

What determines a person's mood is not the environment, but the state of mind.
Life is a mirror. You smile at it, and it smiles back at you; you cry at it, and it cries back at you. In fact, life is exactly what you imagine it to be. If you are always wearing a worried frown, life will be dull and bleak; if you always hold beauty in your heart, life will be bright and sunny. If you dream of success, opportunities will slowly draw near to you.
Orchid
In ancient times, there was a highly respected monk who especially loved growing orchids. Besides lecturing on scriptures and spreading the Dharma, he planted many orchids and tended them carefully every day. One day, he had to go out to give a sermon, so he instructed the young novice monk at the temple to take care of these orchids.
After the master left, the young novice monk tended the orchids carefully every day. But one day, while watering a pot of orchids high up on the flower rack, the young novice monk accidentally tripped and knocked over the flower rack. All the flower pots shattered, scattering across the ground, and many orchids were broken.
Master and disciple
After the young novice monk broke his master's orchids, he felt extremely uneasy, unable to eat or sleep well every day. A few days later, when the master returned from giving his sermon, the young novice monk, trembling with fear, confessed and asked for forgiveness.
Looking at the young novice monk whose face was covered in tears, the master not only did not scold him, but gently comforted him instead. "Then, Master, are you really not angry with me?" The young novice monk thought the master had forgiven him only because he pitied him for being young.
The master smiled and said, "I grow orchids as offerings to the Buddha. I did not plant flowers in order to get angry."
