Prune your Kalanchoe now to get a stunning, pot-bursting bloom

If you want to keep a flower at home that looks good, has a long blooming period, brings good feng shui and promotes longevity, then it has to be the Kalanchoe (Kalanchoe blossfeldiana). This flower not only has gorgeous colors, but its flower meaning is also very auspicious: a long life of a hundred years, health and longevity, an excellent symbolic meaning.
When caring for Kalanchoe, you must pay attention to pruning. After proper pruning, Kalanchoe not only looks more beautiful and grows more healthily and quickly, but pruning can also promote bud formation and help it bloom earlier.
Generally speaking, the best time to prune Kalanchoe is in spring and autumn, and comparatively, autumn pruning is more beneficial for bud formation and blooming. Since Kalanchoe's blooming period is approaching, the editor suggests finishing all pruning before September, so that by then the Kalanchoe can bloom beautifully and burst out of the pot amazingly.
1
When pruning, first give it a rough trim. Use scissors to prune the main branches of the Kalanchoe, but pay attention to the length of the cut; at least leave about 8 cm of branch.
Do not prune too much at once, otherwise it can easily affect the plant's normal respiration, and do not remove too many leaves either, to avoid hindering the plant's normal photosynthesis and causing the flower to die.
2
Before pruning, observe the growth state of the Kalanchoe. For branches that are withered and yellowing, as well as branches that are growing too densely or are too thin and weak, cut them all off with scissors during pruning.
In this way, you can not only prevent the Kalanchoe from growing leggy and correct its plant shape, but also remove diseased and weak branches and eliminate the many negative effects they have on the plant's growth.
3
After pruning, you can appropriately apply some carbendazim or potassium permanganate solution to the wounds on the branches to achieve a sterilizing and disinfecting effect.
After pruning, you can also apply some nitrogen fertilizer and phosphorus fertilizer. Nitrogen fertilizer can promote the flower's growth and speed up the recovery and regrowth of the branches, while phosphorus fertilizer is very beneficial for Kalanchoe's early bud formation and blooming.
4
From the pruned branches, you can select the parts that are growing well and healthily and place them into a suitable soil medium for cuttings. Before long, the cuttings will take root and sprout, and can be transplanted into flower pots for normal care.
5
It should be noted that when caring for Kalanchoe, the pruning process must be carried out, but it is best to finish pruning before September.
Otherwise, after September, Kalanchoe will begin a new round of bud formation and blooming. If you prune again at that time, it will inevitably affect its growth, and may even cause it to bloom too little or not at all, which is not good for the healthy growth of the Kalanchoe.
