The "autumn tiger" heat is here: make these mistakes in flower care and your plants will easily wither and die

Although it is now the Start of Autumn, the weather is still very hot, and typhoons and rainstorms can strike at any moment. We plant growers cannot relax for a second. Do not be careless at this time, or the flowers that barely survived to autumn will immediately die!
When watering at the Start of Autumn, never use these 2 kinds of water!
1. Freshly drawn cold water
I wonder if you have noticed that after the Start of Autumn, when you turn on the tap, the water quickly becomes ice-cold, because the underground temperature has already turned cool, unlike summer when the ground temperature is so high. It is best to let the water you draw for your flowers sit for 2 hours first.
This is especially true for flowers that go dormant in summer, such as kalanchoe, succulents, and cyclamen, which are now slowly waking up. Pouring cold water on them all at once can easily shock them to death. Gardeners with dormant flowers at home must pay close attention.
2. Unfermented fertilizer water
After the Start of Autumn, the temperature difference between day and night is large. Using unfermented rice-washing water, fruit peel water, soybean residue water, or milk water to water flowers will rot and heat up in the pot and can burn the flowers to death. Unless the flower is especially tough, watering ten plants will kill nine!
Huahua has talked about many methods for fermenting fertilizer water. It is simply a matter of putting rice-washing water, fruit peel water, soybean residue water, milk water, and so on into a transparent plastic bottle, leaving it on the windowsill in the sun, opening the lid every 2 days to let air in, and it will be ready in 1 month. Once fermented, dilute it with water before watering the flowers.
Repotting carelessly and the flower is done for immediately
Recently many gardening friends have asked whether they can repot now. Huahua suggests waiting until it cools down. Whether your flower is in good or bad condition, repotting in hot weather is like passing through the gates of hell. It is best to wait until the temperature drops to around 25 degrees, when the risk of repotting is small!
If you must repot now, Huahua has a good method here:
1. Withhold water before repotting until the potting soil is dry
2. In a cool place, trim off the tangled roots. The fine fuzz-like roots no longer serve any real purpose for survival.
3. After trimming, let them dry for a bit, and absolutely do not expose them to light. It is best to keep a little soil on the roots so they take to the pot more easily.
4. After drying for about 3 hours, plant them in a new pot. When planting, the soil must be pressed firmly so the roots can better adapt to the new environment. Finally, water with settling water, or you can also water with a carbendazim solution, then place it in a cool spot to recover.
The sun after the Start of Autumn: expose flowers like this and they will surely die
1. Forcing them into the sun regardless of whether the flowers live or die
Flowers that have made it through summer are mostly only half alive. Although after the Start of Autumn it is cool in the morning and evening, at noon and in the afternoon it is not only hot but also dry. Moving them out to sun them can easily sunburn them to death.
Gardeners with time can move them out to sun in the morning and evening, then move them back or shade them when the sun is strong. Do not forget to mist around the flowers in the morning to raise the surrounding air humidity, so the flowers do not dry out and dehydrate.
2. Keeping them shut indoors and the flowers turn into "yellow-faced old maids"
Some gardening friends find it troublesome and simply keep them indoors without any sun at all. Wrong! Without a transition now, your flowers will not only grow leggy, but may also turn yellow and die.
Since you cannot take them out into the sun right away, you can only take it slowly. First put the flowers in a bright spot indoors, after 1-2 days move them to a spot with scattered sunlight, and after 3 days take them to the balcony for direct sun. Do not forget to mist around the leaves often to keep them moist.
Can't bear to prune and let the flowers grow wild
1. Ignoring leggy branches, the more they grow the worse they get
Flowers easily grow leggy in summer, which is normal, but if you still ignore it after the Start of Autumn and let it grow wildly with branches sprawling everywhere, then this pot of flowers is ruined.
Whether it is succulents or other flowers, branches that are too long must be pruned off. Only in this way can nutrients be saved and the plant shape controlled. The tops cut off succulents can also be replanted as cuttings, and 1 plant instantly becomes 10.
2. Ignoring diseased and pest-infested branches, pests and diseases spread more and more
For flowers with pests and diseases, even if you spray pesticide it is hard to cure them completely. Some insects even lay eggs inside the stems, and they break out again the next year. If you ignore it now, the trouble will be endless.
For flower branches with frequent pests and diseases, cut them off quickly, even if you cut them down to only a little left. The more you prune, the faster the flowers grow, and healthy new branches will soon appear.
