Is the money tree really that fragile? This is how to properly care for this auspicious bonsai

Many of us plant lovers like to buy a small money tree (Pachira aquatica) at the flower market and take it home to grow, but we find that these small money trees are very hard to keep. Before we can even grow them big, their leaves and branches are extremely brittle, and they drop leaves at the slightest touch. Why is that? And what should we do about it? Next, the editor will tell you which reasons cause the money tree to drop its leaves.
Improper watering. Because the money tree we just bought is a relatively small plant, relatively young. When watering the money tree at this time, we must be especially careful and pay close attention. Too much or too little water is a fatal point. If we water too little, the potting soil will be relatively dry, which will cause the money tree's leaves to lose their luster and become rather dull and lackluster.
The money tree drops leaves at the slightest touch. We can water the plant a small amount, but we should spray some water on the plant's leaves; this watering method is best. Adding too much water easily causes the money tree to drop leaves. At this time, it will cause a large amount of water to accumulate inside the pot, leading to waterlogging, which will affect the plant's root respiration and prevent it from absorbing some effective nutrients.
This will cause the money tree's leaves to turn yellow and fall off. For the money tree we newly buy, it is best to choose a pot whose size and material are relatively suitable, so that after buying it we do not have to repot it.
Improper lighting. To grow a money tree, we certainly need to choose a location for it. It is best to place it in an environment with relatively good sunlight and ventilation. If we place it in an environment with relatively poor sunlight and relatively shady conditions, then some substances in the money tree's leaves will greatly decrease, which also easily makes the money tree's leaves turn yellow and fall off. So the money tree we buy is best placed in a relatively ventilated location with relatively good light. When there is strong light, we need to help shade the money tree, otherwise it will burn the money tree's leaves and cause the leaf tips to wither and turn yellow.
Improper fertilizing. This is greatly related to the money tree dropping its leaves. If the money tree has not been fertilized for a period of time or has not been repotted for a long time, then the nutrients in the soil are basically insufficient at this time, the money tree becomes relatively fragile, and the leaves will turn yellow. So it is best to repot and change the soil for the money tree as soon as we buy it, choosing relatively loose soil with relatively high nutrient content to grow it. Then we can apply a small amount of thin fertilizer.
Dry air. Because the money trees we just bought have changed their growing environment, we certainly need to let them adapt to the environment in our home. At this time, we must keep the air in a relatively moist state. If the air in our home is still relatively dry, this will cause the money tree's leaves to dry out and easily fall off. We can spray some water mist around the money tree.
