Hsinchu Creative Life Award: Cultural and Creative Value Added to Build a Local Industry Brand Image

To shape the brand image of the city's local products, the list of the 2018 second Hsinchu City "Creative Life Award" has been announced. The awards ceremony was held yesterday (the 15th) in the morning at the Hsinchu City Cultural Affairs Bureau. A total of 11 local businesses with 15 works, covering meatballs, mochi, handmade soap, metalwork, crafts and more, were selected in the "Packaging Design Competition," while 4 lifestyle craft businesses submitted applications under the "Innovative Product Development Plan." The selected works will be exhibited for 12 consecutive days from August 15 to 26 on the first floor of the Cultural Affairs Bureau. The public is warmly welcome to visit and give encouragement to outstanding local businesses and the winning designers.

Mayor Lin Chih-chien stated that the "Hsinchu Creative Life Award" was first held last year and this year is its second edition. Through the two main tracks of the "Packaging Design Competition" and the "Innovative Product Development Plan," it selects excellent product packaging designs and product developments, with the aim of driving the development of Hsinchu's distinctive industries and related crafts, establishing a brand image for local products, and putting into practice the spirit of cultural and creative value addition and lifestyle craftsmanship.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau stated that this year's "Packaging Design Competition" received a total of 155 entries, a threefold increase over last year's 56 entries, showing remarkable results. Eleven local businesses, including Hairui Meatballs, Taiwan Meatballs, Hsin Chung Glass, Alien Tableware, Athena Olive Handmade Soap Workshop, Huaya Handmade Soap Workshop, Knock Knock Metalwork, Qiu Ji Mochi, Xinshi Kiln, Shuilu Coffee, and Kaixin Juanwei, covering meatballs, mochi, handmade soap, metalwork, crafts and more, had 15 design works selected, showcasing the rich diversity of Hsinchu's local products.
