Money tree blooms and bears fruit: Grandpa Zhang gives seeds to neighbors, and a full pot bursts with new sprouts

As more and more people grow flowers, gardening experts keep emerging one after another. Some grow all kinds of strange potted flowers, and some grow common flowers in very unusual ways! Just like neighbor Grandpa Zhang, who actually got the money tree that everyone usually grows to bloom and bear fruit. Not only did he enjoy the flowers and harvest the fruit, he also gave the seeds he picked to the neighbors and taught them to propagate money trees from seed.
Grandpa Zhang's money tree "bloomed" and bore fruit, the seeds were given to neighbors, and a full pot "burst with new sprouts"
It is very rare for a money tree grown at home to bloom, because money trees kept in ordinary homes are usually bought directly from flower markets. This kind of money tree is usually obtained by grafting branches of the money tree, and although the rootstock is thick, the branch itself is young, so it is very rare for a money tree at home to bloom and bear fruit. In addition, some flower lovers are "plant killers," and it is already good enough if their money tree survives at all. As long as it does not get yellow leaves or root rot, that is already good enough, so seeing a money tree bloom and bear fruit is even harder.
But this Grandpa Zhang is different. He is a gardening expert and keeps all kinds of potted flowers at home. Getting his money tree to bloom and bear fruit this year is not the first time either. In fact, his cultivation methods are somewhat different from everyone else's, so now let us introduce his "cultivation secrets."
Outdoor growing - ventilation and light are slightly greater
Grandpa Zhang has a small yard at home. Because he loves growing flowers, he keeps all kinds of flowers in his yard. The money tree is grown outdoors in spring, summer and autumn every year, and is only moved indoors for care when the temperature is low in winter. The money tree stays outdoors for three seasons a year, with good ventilation and good light, and the plant grows very quickly.
Regular fertilization
As the old saying goes: good crops need a handful of fertilizer. The same principle applies to growing flowers. It is not about not fertilizing, nor about fertilizing often, but about choosing the right time to fertilize. First, when potting up the money tree, put base fertilizer at the bottom of the pot, and choose permeable and breathable sandy soil for the upper soil. Soil mixed in equal proportions of sand, garden soil and mixed soil is best. Then fertilize every spring, choosing quick-acting granular compound fertilizer, placing it buried at the edge of the flower pot. Doing it twice in spring is enough. Summer is the period of rapid growth for the money tree, so it is best to choose phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to supplement nutrition. Fertilization can be done through foliar fertilizer and root watering. Doing it three times in summer is enough. Autumn is the same as spring, so choosing compound fertilizer is fine. Do not fertilize in winter.
Watering
Because the money tree is grown outdoors for three seasons a year, Grandpa Zhang often waters it with rainwater. Compared with tap water, rainwater is rich in elements such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Moreover, watering flowers with rainwater will not cause soil compaction. For most friends, this condition may not be available, so it is recommended to put the plant outdoors in the rain on rainy days, or collect some rainwater.
A money tree grown this way not only avoids yellow leaves and root rot, but also grows very quickly. After the branches grow thick and strong, it will bloom and bear fruit in summer, and the fruit and seeds are harvested in autumn. This year Grandpa Zhang cut open the harvested fruit, took out the seeds, and shared them with the neighbors to grow money trees from seed. In one week, the seeds could be seen sprouting, and in two weeks, the leaves of the money tree could be distinguished.
