Speaking of money grass, there is a kind of "little money grass" that looks similar to copper coin grass (Hydrocotyle vulgaris) and grows in very similar environments. It is just that its leaves are shaped more like a horseshoe, so its scientific name is: Dichondra repens, and in many places people also call it pouch grass. This little money grass grows everywhere in many places and is treated as a weed.

It is this weed that grows extremely fast and is very easy to cultivate. Just cut one stem, snip it into small segments and toss them in a pot, and they will take root and fill the pot. Little money grass is a creeping plant, so every node on its stems will take root and sprout; even a single stem will grow new roots at its nodes to absorb nutrients for the plant's growth. It is also for this reason that little money grass grows extremely fast: planted in a pot and cared for, it can grow into a "green giant" in 30 days, which is very spectacular.

To grow little money grass as a potted plant, the propagation method is cuttings. When caring for it, you need to pay attention to the following three points:

1. Water and fertilizer

Little money grass likes to grow in moist, fertile soil and comes alive on contact with water, because the plant has a very strong rooting ability: generally, after being planted in soil as a cutting, it will take root in three days and sprout in a week. Therefore, in later care, water and fertilizer must be sufficient. When planting the cuttings in a pot, apply a base fertilizer. After that, fertilize twice a month. Because little money grass is a foliage plant, nitrogen fertilizer is the most suitable choice, which helps the plant's leaves grow. Keep the soil moist and water it when it dries out; when the weather is dry at noon, you can use a spray bottle to spray water around the plant to increase humidity.

2. Light

For the plant to grow well, good lighting is an essential condition. If you like to grow little money grass into a larger potted plant, it is best to choose a large pot and then hang the pot up to grow it; as a vine plant, it will naturally trail downward. It is best to place the pot in a spot with plenty of scattered light. With good lighting, the plant will naturally grow lush. Rotate the pot once every three days to ensure even lighting, and the plant will also grow evenly.

3. Pruning

Little money grass grows extremely fast. If you want the potted plant to grow into the shape you want, you must prune it; otherwise it will grow chaotically. Especially in summer and autumn, which are the seasons when little money grass grows very rapidly, pruning is a must in these two seasons. According to the plant shape you want, each pruning mainly involves cutting off yellow leaves, rotten leaves and dead branches, then cutting off leggy branches, so that the plant sends out more new shoots from the side leaves. This way the plant will look full and sturdy, especially when grown as a hanging potted plant, where this is even more necessary.

Little money grass comes alive on contact with water. It is very easy to grow; give it water, fertilizer and light, and it will easily fill the pot. It is very suitable as an indoor hanging potted plant, and as an ornamental flower it could not be more beautiful.
