What is the difference between Bougainvillea glabra and Bougainvillea spectabilis
1. Leaf difference
Bougainvillea glabra has ovate or ovate-lanceolate leaves, papery, alternate, with acuminate or acute tips and a broadly cuneate or rounded base, with slight pubescence. Bougainvillea spectabilis has ovate or elliptic leaves with relatively rounded, obtuse tips and thick down.
2. Flower difference
Bougainvillea glabra is borne terminally within the bracts at the ends of the branches; each bract bears one flower, with 3 bracts that are magenta or purple, elliptic or oblong, a pale green perianth tube, and a linear, laterally positioned style. Bougainvillea spectabilis has inflorescences that are terminal or axillary, with bracts that are elliptic-ovate and rounded to cordate at the base, dark red or pale purplish red in color, a green perianth tube, and yellow lobes.
