What is the difference between gesang flowers and cosmos flowers? A quick guide to tell them apart
1. Differences in the plants:
Gesang flowers are diverse in variety and also include the latter; it is a general term for a category of flowers. The plants are tough and can withstand wind, and they like sunny conditions in their living environment. The more sunlight, the better the plants grow.
Cosmos plants are rather tall, generally from 30 cm to 1 m, and can reach about one to two meters at their tallest. There are roots below the plant, and the roots are spindle-shaped. The stems are rather slender but highly adaptable and not easy to break.
2. Differences in the flowers:
The former has solitary flowers, about 3 to 6 cm in diameter. The flowers are large and brilliantly colorful, with many color types, including pink, purple, yellow, white and many others. Therefore, when Tibetans see some beautiful flowers they do not recognize, they also call them gesang flowers, implying happiness and good fortune.
Although the latter is only a subset of varieties of the former, its flowers also come in very many colors. The pedicels are rather long, about 6 to 15 cm, and the flowering season is from June to August each year.
