What to Do When Your Lucky Bamboo Grows Too Tall? Here's the Correct Way to Handle It

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
Once your lucky bamboo has grown to a certain height, you can trim off part of its roots, let the cut surface dry, and then put it back to continue growing. For care, it is best to use mineral water or well water. Within 10 days after pruning, do not move its position casually, and it will grow white fibrous roots.

I. What to Do

After the lucky bamboo has grown taller and reached a certain height, we can take it out of the water, then cut diagonally at its roots, and once the cut surface has dried, put it back in the container to continue growing. The diagonal cut is meant to increase the area for absorbing nutrients and to help it root better. When pruning, the leaves at the base should be removed, and the cut should be smooth.

II. Care After Pruning

After pruning, the water used should preferably be mineral water or well water. If tap water is to be used, it must first be left out in the sun for a few days until the chlorine in the water has evaporated before use. Within 10 days after pruning, do not move its position or change its direction. After about 15 days, it will grow white fibrous roots.
