Yellowing lower leaves of the clivia: pinpointing the cause is key to summer care

One of the lower leaves of the clivia has turned yellow, which is not normal - what is going on?
Looking at your picture, the yellowing leaf at the base of your clivia is normal degeneration of an old leaf. It is also a sign of insufficient nutrition in summer.
Once summer temperatures rise, the clivia does not grow. Even though it is not growing, its roots in the soil still need to slowly absorb nutrients and water to keep its leaves from wilting and turning yellow. But if we go a long time without watering, once the roots get no water, some of the lower leaves will age and drop off. If your potting soil stays dry and you do not water, the roots get no water. That is why the leaves turn yellow. If your potting soil is airy and, provided there is good ventilation, you keep the potting soil moist, it can get through summer safely, and it may drop just one leaf. But if you do not dare to water it in summer and go a long time without watering, the lower leaf edges will yellow faster. It is possible that two leaves drop off at once; all of this is normal, and it does not affect its growth in autumn.
The clivia Xiao Qi grows is only given a little shade and placed in a well-ventilated spot. Even when it rains it gets rained on outside with no problem at all, and it still gets yellow leaves, but only one or two leaves yellow and drop off.
When caring for clivia in summer, be sure to remember this. Keep the potting soil moist and put it in a well-ventilated place. In summer, if you can avoid fertilizing, then do not fertilize. If the leaves turn yellow from lack of nutrients, you can put a few granules of slow-release fertilizer on the potting soil. In one of the three pictures you provided, you can clearly see that the edges of the top leaves are starting to turn yellow. This is because the potting soil has been too dry for too long and you have placed it somewhere it gets light. The lack of water and the sun exposure have caused the leaf edges to turn yellow. These leaves cannot recover. You can move it to a ventilated spot and give it a little water. That way the new leaves it grows will not get sunburned again; be sure to remember to shade it in summer.
