One in ten market liquid eggs tested positive for Salmonella; Yuanshan liquid eggs with maggots repeatedly escaped inspection? FDA: Operator deliberately produced on holidays
The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of our country's three major festivals. The Council of Agriculture, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and the Environmental Protection Administration held a joint press conference today (the 15th), announcing that they will expand inspections of Mid-Autumn festival foods, including mooncakes, vegetables and fruits, and poultry, livestock and aquatic products, and will also add Sudan red dye to the mandatory testing items for salted egg yolk products sold on the market. The three ministries and agencies divided the work, hoping to implement management and spot testing of food ingredients from the source to the market end, from livestock farms and chemical raw material suppliers at the source, to pastry shops and online platform stores selling on the market.
In addition, regarding Yuanshan Egg Products Company, which used expired and inferior liquid eggs, the FDA stated that the operator deliberately chose to produce the tainted liquid eggs on holidays clearly in order to evade inspection, and that the government will adopt surprise inspection operations in the future to make up for the current loopholes in inspection.
