When buying flowers, beware of sellers pulling a bait-and-switch, so you don't pay a high price and still get scammed

Scammed again! Money is hard to earn these days, but it's easy money for scammers! They set up a little stall by the roadside, selling flowers! The shouted prices are very cheap! Plant lovers naturally gather around! But don't always get fooled by some strange novelty! Today I've put together the flower scammers' new tricks for everyone, you definitely need to know about them, so you don't keep falling for it!
1. Desert rose turns into a weed
A little flower box, a pile of things that look like who-knows-what! The magical part is that you take it home, soak it in water, and it blooms! No soil needed, very convenient!
It really is magical, but you've been scammed! This is not a desert rose at all! It's called cushion clubmoss (Selaginella pulvinata), which curls into a ball during its dormant period and unfolds when placed in water; it's also known as the "nine-death resurrection grass"! It's just a type of grass and won't bloom into any flowers!
2. Sandalwood sprayed with perfume
This doesn't look like any kind of treasure no matter how you look at it, but you just can't resist the vendor saying it's a sandalwood tree that appears only once in a hundred years, that it has a fragrance, that it never ages or dies and never grows leaves, and that keeping it at home brings prosperity to the household! You really do get fooled silly!
Actually, this is the "breathing root" of the bald cypress; it grows this kind of root system in damp environments, mainly stretching above ground to breathe! It has no symbolic meaning whatsoever. As for the fragrance, after soaking in perfume for a while, of course it will smell nice.
3. Red flowers stuck onto a jade plant
Seeing a pot of jade plant (Portulacaria afra) like this really makes people happy, because in the plant world, red paired with green is truly beautiful!
But have you looked closely at this flower? It's actually stuck on.
4. Colored succulents
Succulents as colorful as rainbows have appeared on the market, very beautiful; at first glance they really are lovely, but after you buy them and grow them for a while, they start to fade and look really ugly. And most of these succulents have been treated with chemicals to inhibit their photosynthesis, so they're very hard to keep alive! Unless they return to their original color!
5. Bowl lotus and vegetable lotus, too confused to tell apart
Go take a look on Taobao, many people sell bowl lotus seeds, but as a plant lover, if you put a bowl lotus and a vegetable lotus in front of you, I'm afraid you wouldn't be able to tell them apart either!
And the biggest difference between the two is that no matter how long you grow a vegetable lotus, it will never bloom! Its lush big leaves look quite pleasing, but what's the use if it doesn't bloom!
