Snake plant, also known as mother-in-law's tongue, has upright, thick leaves and is hard to kill. Placing a few pots in a new home or office not only decorates the space but also effectively purifies the air. If a snake plant is not cared for well, it easily develops yellow leaves or grows very thin leaves that look unattractive. What exactly is going on?

The picture above shows a snake plant at a flower enthusiast's home. After being moved into a new house, it has been grown for some time, but not only has it grown thin and its markings have blurred, it also looks listless at all, and it even shows symptoms of yellow leaves. He did not know what to do. This flower enthusiast had always kept the snake plant in a spot at home where it could not get sunlight, so it would be strange if the snake plant grew well. If you want a snake plant to grow thick and upright, be sure to pay attention to the following points.

1. Give it some sun. The snake plant is a plant that likes warmth, tolerates partial shade and dislikes strong light. Disliking strong light does not mean it cannot get sunlight. All green plants need sunlight for photosynthesis to grow better. In autumn, you can move the snake plant out and place it in a spot with plenty of sunlight, and its leaves will grow greener and greener.

2. Replenish nutrients. When autumn arrives, it is the vigorous growth period for the snake plant, so be sure to seize this time to feed the plant enough, and only then will it grow plump. During the growing season, fertilize the plant once every 15 days. You can use an organic nutrient solution with a relatively sufficient nitrogen content. Take 1 ml of the stock solution and dilute it more than 1000 times, then water the potting soil thoroughly. In a little more than half a year, the plant can grow taller than you. When fertilizing, do not get it on the leaves, because the fertilizer will burn the leaves and affect their appearance.

3. There is another point that is also easily overlooked. Snake plants are truly drought tolerant. They are still fine if not given water for ten days to half a month. That is indeed true, but such a plant will grow shriveled and thin. If we want the plant to grow straight and chubby, we should water it about once every half a month. In areas where the autumn climate is very dry, you can mist it in the morning to increase air humidity. When watering, do not let water flow into the center of the leaves, and the place where it is usually placed must be well ventilated.
