What to do when hydroponic pothos leaves are sparse and yellowing? A few steps to easily make them green and dense

Pothos, a common foliage plant in many homes, that glossy emerald "flower of life" actually turns yellow and quietly goes bald when placed in water? What exactly is going on?
Look at these few lifeless, sparse stems of pothos, the aerial roots growing in the water are a messy sight, and most importantly, the green leaves that were originally meant to be enjoyed are now dull yellow and lusterless, truly unpleasant to look at sitting at home. Throw it away? Thinking of all those days of diligent care, what a pity; turning it over in my mind again and again, I still can't just leave it be.
Experienced flower lovers will surely wonder: did you leave it out on the balcony in direct sun? Pothos is a shade-loving plant, very delicate, and turns yellow not long under the sun! I thought about it and found the flower lovers' doubt not unreasonable, but my pothos is only placed in a spot with plenty of indirect light, not exposed to direct sun, so what exactly is the problem?
1. Water is the heart of the plant, change it every few days for good growth
Hydroponic pothos, as the name suggests, water is one of the most important inorganic substances for pothos. Ensuring water quality means taking a big step forward in growing pothos well. Changing the water every few days on one hand promotes root respiration in the pothos; if it is a newly transplanted plant that has not yet grown new roots, it can also encourage root sprouting; on the other hand, it rinses the roots, clearing away the miscellaneous bacteria attached to the root surface. When growing hydroponic pothos, frequently changing the water and frequently misting the leaves makes quite a difference! If there is slight root rot, you can also put a few small stones at the bottom!
2. Enough indirect light, thick and plump leaves
Although pothos is a shade-loving plant and should not be exposed to direct light for long periods, hydroponically grown pothos still needs plenty of indirect light so it can carry out photosynthesis better. Chlorophyll is the photosynthetic pigment that makes pothos glossy green, and a certain amount of indirect light also lets the stomata transpire excess water, plus frequently misting the leaf surface with a spray bottle, the pothos leaves will grow plump and thick.
3. Rotten leaves and roots go away quickly, good leaf fertilizer is on its way
When the yellowing symptoms have not eased after taking the above measures, we can first clean away the rotten leaves and roots from the base, rinse the leaf surface with clean water, and choose a clear, cloudless day to spray fertilizer on the leaves. Generally, choose an organic liquid fertilizer specially made for pothos, just 3-5 drops will do. The pothos will not only absorb it well, but the leaves will also turn green again and sprout new branches.
Alright, that's all for today's explanation of a few tips on how to prevent yellowing in hydroponic pothos. If flower lovers have anything to add or if there is anything I got wrong, please leave me a message below!
