String of Pearls succulent grows 200 beads in ten days, stringing into a two-meter-long curtain

Huahua has a pot of String of Pearls at home. After learning a few tricks from the succulent expert @Er Mu Hua Hua Nan, it immediately grew fast - it is already 2 meters long, and the pearl beads on the vines are too many to count... Today Huahua will summarize this and teach everyone the secret!
There are two kinds of String of Pearls
String of Pearls is actually what we grow as String of Pearls (Senecio rowleyanus) and String of Tears (Senecio herreianus) - one round and one pointed, very easy to tell apart~
Both are succulents, but they are not delicate at all. Grown well, they can quickly grow two or three meters, and hanging at home they are cleaner and more hygienic than any spider plant. In half a year, 1 pot becomes 10 pots, truly saving you even the curtains!
String of Pearls care secrets
1. Leaf mold soil grows plump beads
String of Pearls likes loose, breathable soil, such as leaf mold soil and coconut coir soil. Breathable soil not only lets it grow and climb quickly, but also makes the little beads fuller, as if inflated.
After the Start of Autumn, fallen leaves on the road can all be collected, mixed with garden soil and buried, or sealed in a bucket. In 1-2 months they will compost into nutrient-rich leaf mold soil. Then sun it and spray a little carbendazim to sterilize, and it can be used directly.
2. Top dressing stones prevent rotting beads
Because String of Pearls will cover the whole pot surface, it easily rots when watered, so Huahua suggests laying a layer of stones on the pot surface: perlite, volcanic rock or coal cinders all work. They prevent moisture and sun damage, with immediate results!
A handful of bought top dressing stones costs nearly ten yuan, so you might as well pick some up by the river. First sift them, keep stones 5-10 mm in diameter, then rinse with a shower head, dry them in the sun, then soak them in carbendazim or potassium permanganate solution, and finally let them dry before use~
3. Small watering tips
String of Pearls is very drought-tolerant. Only too much watering drowns it; it is rarely killed by drought. Gardeners can grow it boldly and confidently. Water thoroughly only after the potting soil has dried out completely, and be careful not to let water soak the little beads in the pot, as this easily causes rot.
Huahua has a small watering trick. You can find a large straw from a pearl milk tea, insert it at the edge of the flower pot, and when watering, water along the straw. Careful gardeners can try it~
4. Good light makes the pearls greener and greener
Some gardeners report that their String of Pearls is not green, and the little beads are not big either, feeling a bit malnourished. Actually it is caused by too little light and weak photosynthesis. Just put it in a bright, ventilated place at home, and in three to five days it will be fine!
5. Add fertilizer once a month, and the crazy growth cannot be stopped
When talking about secrets, how can fertilizer be left out? String of Pearls is best given some water-soluble fertilizer, such as compound fertilizer or nutrient solution. It is best to dilute it with water first, because it does not like strong flavors. Watering with fertilizer once a month is enough~
If you do not have suitable fertilizer at home, you can also ferment some rice-washing water. Pour the rice-washing water into a plastic bottle, put it on the windowsill in full sun for 1-2 weeks, then dilute with water and water the String of Pearls. If it is fresh rice-washing water, it may "burn" the String of Pearls and rot it. Gardeners, be careful!
Learn cuttings, and 1 pot instantly becomes 10 pots
From a long String of Pearls, just take any section and you can grow another pot. Huahua has a 100 percent survival cutting method here, take a quick look!
1. Find aerial roots
The vines of String of Pearls will grow dark little tendrils one by one. These are aerial roots. As long as the cut branch has aerial roots, it will be very easy for the cutting to survive.
2. Do the cutting shape well
The branches of String of Pearls are relatively soft, so it is not enough to just stick them into the soil. It is best to insert them diagonally 2 cm deep, then lay the rest on the pot surface, gently press with a little soil, then water thoroughly. After 3 days, when they perk up, they will survive.
3. Cutting precautions
During cutting, do not expose them to the sun. It is best to place them in a shady spot. After 1 week, once survival is confirmed, you can gradually give them some sun. For watering, still keep to watering thoroughly after drying out. In less than 2 months, they can fill the pot.
A few small problems with String of Pearls
1. Leaves shriveled
If good beads suddenly shrivel, first rule out accidental damage: bumps and knocks, or broken vines. Then think about watering: too much water makes beads rot and shrivel, too little water makes beads dry and shrivel. Finally, prune off the shriveled beads, and according to the situation, see whether to water or ventilate to reduce moisture.
2. Pests appeared
String of Pearls can also get scale insects. Besides spraying insecticides such as Jie Bi Zhi and imidacloprid, you can also buy some medical alcohol from a pharmacy and spray it. The little pests will all die!
