Fermenting fertilizer yourself works quite well too, so give it a try if you like! After the Start of Autumn, one seasonal characteristic appears: strong winds. For gardening friends who use chicken manure, fish guts and eggshells on roses, take note: while fermenting these homemade fertilizers, the wind will carry the smell to neighbors' homes or the surrounding area, causing trouble for everyone. The two homemade fertilizers I am introducing to you today not only avoid this problem, but also keep roses blooming nonstop.

Okara fertilizer

Although okara is a leftover residue, it is still rich in nutrients, and after fermentation it can be used on roses to help them grow better. So how do we do it? First, prepare a large empty bottle, put the okara into the bottle, add ten times its volume of clean water to ferment. At this point, gardening friends can add orange peel or tangerine peel, and the fermentation will not have a foul smell, but rather a very fresh citrus peel scent.

But be careful not to fill it too full, and do not screw the cap on too tightly, because gas needs to be released during fermentation. If it cannot be released in time, the bottle may become deformed or even burst. When fermentation is complete and you are ready to use it, add 10 times its volume of clean water and mix evenly, then use it to water the roses. This will replenish nutrients and help them grow better.

Another method is to bury the okara directly in the soil, spread it about 3~4 cm thick, then cover the okara with a layer of soil and wait for it to ferment. Mixed with soil as a base fertilizer, this can help roses grow better. However, small flying insects may appear during fermentation, so gardening friends should remember to use a container with a lid to avoid small flying insects; or place garlic skins directly on top of the soil to deal with small flying insects.

Rice washing water + yogurt + beer

Gardening friends all know that rice washing water can be fermented and used, but I believe those who have made it themselves have all felt the same thing: it stinks too much. Although it can help roses grow, you cannot stand it yourself, so you cannot have the best of both worlds. To achieve the best of both worlds is actually very simple: use rice washing water, beer and yogurt together, and the odor problem is solved, leaving a faint milky-beer scent. Next, I will teach everyone how to do it.

Do not throw away the yogurt bottles we usually finish drinking from. Just pour the rice washing water into them, then pour in a little beer, seal them and place them on the balcony to ferment. During fermentation, occasionally open the lid to let it breathe. When fermentation is complete and you are ready to use it, gardening friends remember to add water to dilute it before use; just make sure the amount of water is greater than the amount of fertilizer. If you find making it troublesome, you can also use a rose-specific organic liquid fertilizer instead. Not only does it not smell, it is also richer in nutrients. Just dilute it with 500 times its volume of water before use.

Have gardening friends learned it? After the Start of Autumn, you no longer need to worry about the smell problem, and you can also keep roses blooming nonstop. Isn't that the best of both worlds? Now is also a good time to get into growing roses, so everyone can get started. Another wave of rose blooms in autumn does not seem hard at all!

Besides choosing good fertilizer, soil is equally important for growing roses well. The small potted roses many people buy easily turn yellow and wither. The reason is that the soil chosen is not good, which leads to overwatering and root rot. If you can choose better soil, this problem will not occur.

Water well, and roses will grow vigorously

Too much water is no good, and too little is no good either. So how should we water?

(1) When good soil is chosen, watering needs to be controlled and must not cause waterlogging. Otherwise the leaves will turn yellow. Many people make this mistake.

(2) Many people water without watering the leaves, and that is also wrong. The soil needs watering once every 4 days, while the leaves need watering once every day.

Alright, although homemade fermented fertilizer is good, do not use it in excess! If you like growing flowers, follow for more, and if you have any questions, please leave me a message!
