Blueberry, also known as dian guo, has extremely rich nutritional value, especially of great help to people's eyes. For people who often face computers or often work with intense concentration, regularly eating blueberries can effectively prevent excessive eye fatigue, which is why it is loved by everyone. Growing blueberries in pots at home is something many friends surely want to try, so what issues need attention during the cultivation process?

1. Light requirements

Potted blueberries need plenty of light to grow. Usually, place the pot in a sunny spot on the balcony or in a courtyard with ample light. If blueberries cannot get enough light, the plant's fruit-setting rate will be greatly reduced, and the quality of the fruit will be significantly affected. If it is the hot summer period, then blueberries need some shading, and the pot should not be exposed to overly strong light for too long, as this easily leads to leggy branches and scorched leaves, causing the plant to grow shorter and making it hard to grow larger.

2. Water requirements

Blueberries are suitable for growing in a moist environment, but the amount of watering needs strict control. Because its root system is not very well developed in growth capacity, improper watering easily causes waterlogging in the pot. Normally, watering is needed 2-3 times a week, and it is best to spray or use a certain tool when watering, so that water flows into the soil not too quickly and the plant can absorb water more easily.

Insufficient watering is rather serious for blueberries. Too dry potting soil causes the plant to absorb too little water, often leading to withered leaves and affecting the plant's growth process, and the epidermis of the roots and stems also easily becomes wrinkled. Therefore, only by maintaining an appropriate amount of watering can blueberries grow smoothly.

3. Soil conditions

As for the growing medium for blueberries, it was mentioned above that they fear waterlogging in the pot, so first of all the soil is required to have good drainage. Second, it is best to choose relatively fertile soil, so that its fruit will be fuller and larger. Finally, the potting soil should be adjusted to be slightly acidic. If grown in alkaline soil, blueberries may develop poorly, usually causing the plant's flower buds to wither prematurely, and over time, the plant may even die.

4. Fertilizer requirements

Before fertilizing the plant, it is best to place a small amount of sufficient base fertilizer or decomposed manure in the soil. When the plant is in its vigorous growth period, appropriate topdressing can be applied, about once every 10-15 days. If the plant is in the flowering or fruit-setting stage, it is not suitable to apply too much fertilizer. Note that the calcium content in the fertilizer should be as low as possible, as this is very unfavorable to the growth of blueberries.
