Do water-propagated pothos need frequent water changes? Master the correct water-change frequency

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
When pothos is first propagated in water, it needs frequent water changes, once every 2-3 days, or every other day, and the water temperature should be close to room temperature. After it roots, you can change the water once a week, or once every 10-15 days, and change the water promptly once the water becomes cloudy. For water propagation you can use clean mountain spring water or rainwater; if you use tap water, let the impurities settle first.

I. Change the water frequently in the early stage of water propagation

Water-propagated pothos grows very fast. At the very beginning of water propagation it has not yet rooted, so it needs frequent water changes, once every 2-3 days, or every other day. Note that the water temperature should be close to room temperature, with no big difference, or it will affect root growth.

II. Water-change frequency after rooting

After water-propagated pothos has rooted, the water-change frequency does not need to be too frequent. Usually once a week is enough, or once every 10-15 days, and whenever you notice the water becoming cloudy, change it promptly. After rooting, you can add a few drops of nutrient solution while changing the water; at this time green impurities will appear in the container, so be sure to clean it.

III. Points to note

1. Water quality: Water-propagated pothos should use clean mountain spring water, or you can store some rainwater during the rainy season. If you want to use tap water for care, it is best to let the impurities settle before using it.

2. Water level: Control the water level well; it should not be too high or too low. Generally, half or 1/3 of the water is enough. If the water level is too high, it will hinder its growth.
