How to save a gardenia with yellowing leaves? A few practical methods to teach you
1. Increase watering
1. Cause: Gardenia has relatively high requirements for both soil moisture and air humidity. If these needs are not met, yellow leaves will appear.
2. Solution: Observe its condition often. When the soil dries out, water it, but it is not suitable to water too much at one time, as too much will cause water to accumulate in the pot and make its roots rot. Generally, water the pot about once every two days, and spray the branches and leaves in both the morning and evening. In autumn and winter, the frequency and amount of watering can be appropriately reduced; once a month is enough.
2. Adjust the soil
1. Cause: It is an acid-loving plant, so the soil it needs is acidic soil. If the soil is alkaline soil, it cannot meet its growth needs.
2. Solution: Test the soil's pH often. If the soil has become alkaline, you can mix some leaf mold fertilizer into the soil; it can turn alkaline soil into acidic soil.
3. Increase light
1. Cause: Gardenia is a sun-loving plant. Insufficient sunlight will affect its growth, so yellow leaves are not surprising.
2. Solution: Ensure it gets 8 hours of light every day, but because it cannot tolerate strong light, it needs appropriate shading when the sun is strong at noon; at other times, no treatment is needed.
4. Increase fertilizing
1. Cause: Gardenia likes fertilizer. Insufficient fertilizer will affect its health.
2. Solution: Normally, fertilizing once or twice a month is enough, but during the growing period and flowering period, it is best to ensure once a week. When fertilizing, use frequent applications with a small amount. It is similar to "small meals, more often" when we eat.
