What to Do When the Top of a Money Tree (Pachira aquatica) Rots? Causes and Solutions

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
The usual cause of a rotted top on a money tree is watering, so first stop watering, then cut off the rotten part and disinfect it with a remedy; next, soak the plant and let it dry; finally, replant it, and it will be saved.

1. Causes of the Rotted Top

Its top rotting is usually caused by too much watering. During care, people sometimes mistakenly think it needs a lot of water, so they keep watering the potting soil, which easily leads to waterlogging and then root rot; nutrient transport is also blocked, so at this point its top rots due to a lack of nutrients.

2. Solutions

1. Stop watering

If you find that too much watering is the cause, then you must not continue watering at this point; this is a very important step for whether it can be saved. After stopping watering, dig the plant out of the potting soil.

2. Cut off the rotten part

Rinse the dug-out plant with clean water, then use scissors to cut off the rotten part; the cut must be very smooth, then find an anti-inflammatory ointment to seal the cut and prevent dirt or water from getting inside. This will keep it from continuing to rot.

3. Soak the plant

First prepare a large basin, pour the prepared carbendazim into the basin, then put the trimmed plant in to soak for about 30 minutes, and finally take it out and let it dry in a cool, shady place.

4. Replant

Once all the rotten parts have been dealt with, it can be replanted in fresh potting soil; for the pot, choose a clay pot if possible, and use loose, breathable soil, then pay more attention to misting it to keep it appropriately moist. After about 20 days, its top will grow new branches again.
