What are the reasons why Alocasia macrorrhizos does not bloom?
1. Insufficient light
Cause: Alocasia macrorrhizos is a tropical plant. If it is kept indoors for a long time without sunlight, it will be very difficult for it to bloom, and even if it does bloom, the number of flowers will be very small.
Solution: It should receive enough sunlight, but it must not be exposed to strong, harsh sun. Sufficient light is what promotes flower bud differentiation. Normally it can be given diffused light, but during the flowering period the light duration should be increased appropriately.
2. Too much water
Cause: Do not water too much at ordinary times. If the potting soil is too wet, the root system will rot, the plant cannot grow normally, and it will be unable to bloom.
Solution: Watering should be controlled appropriately, and misting can be done appropriately to maintain the humidity of the growing environment, allowing the plant's root system to grow in a somewhat dry environment, which is beneficial to flower bud differentiation.
3. Too much nitrogen fertilizer
Cause: If too much nitrogen fertilizer is applied at ordinary times, the phenomenon of only growing leaves without blooming will occur.
Solution: If you want it to bloom, you must stop applying nitrogen fertilizer and should appropriately apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. Only with reasonable fertilization will it bloom. In addition, at ordinary times fertilization should be applied in small amounts and multiple times, otherwise it is very easy to burn the root system.
