Why Money Tree New Shoots Wither and How to Fix It
1. Increase Watering
1. Cause: When the potting soil lacks water, it hinders the plant's growth and causes the new shoots to begin to wither.
2. Solution: You need to increase watering to keep the soil at a certain level of moisture; you can also do this by misting frequently.
2. Reduce the Amount of Fertilizer
1. Cause: Applying too much fertilizer or fertilizer that is too concentrated will burn the plant and cause the new shoots to wither.
2. Solution: At this point you need to flush out the fertilizer with water, once a day, watering thoroughly each time; after several rounds the fertilizer will be diluted away. In addition, cut off the withered new shoots and apply frequent, light fertilizing. If you do not want to dilute it with water, you can simply change the soil instead.
3. Increase Light
1. Cause: Many plants cannot grow without sunlight, and this one is the same. It likes an environment with plenty of sunlight; if it does not get enough light during care, the growth of the new shoots will be affected and they will wither.
2. Solution: During care, place it in a spot with ample light. When placing it, it is best to have the leaf surface facing the sun, and mist it often to aid photosynthesis.
4. Increase Humidity
1. Cause: If it is kept indoors for a long time, the air becomes stagnant and the humidity is not high, making the air abnormally dry; at this point it cannot obtain enough water, and the new shoots wither as a result.
2. Solution: If you keep it indoors, you need to water or mist it often and ensure sufficient air humidity; even in winter you can mist it, and ventilate often.
5. Prevent and Control Pests and Diseases
1. Cause: If pests and diseases settle on the new shoots, they will take its nutrients and affect its growth, and the new shoots will also wither.
2. Solution: When you find pests or diseases, remove them promptly and raise the plant's humidity to encourage the new shoots to keep growing.
6. Add Growth Elements
1. Cause: During growth, if it lacks growth elements such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, the new shoots will wither.
2. Solution: Replenish growth elements promptly; this can not only ease the withering of the new shoots but also make the leaves more emerald green.
