What to do when lotus leaves turn yellow and dry up? 3 tricks to keep the leaves green and the flowers vibrant

Lotus is one of China's top ten famous flowers, and it is also what we commonly call the lotus. When grown at home, you may encounter yellowing and drying leaves, which is generally caused by improper care. You need to treat each situation according to its cause to solve the yellow-leaf problem, otherwise it greatly affects the appearance. Let's take a look below!
What to do when lotus leaves turn yellow and dry up?
(1). Insufficient light
Lotus is a light-loving plant. Without light, the stems and leaves of the lotus grow leggy, photosynthesis in the leaves is affected, chlorophyll synthesis is affected, causing the leaves to turn yellow, and it also affects the plant's flowering.
Solution: Place the plant in a spot with plenty of light for care. When the sunlight is intense, shade measures are also needed; do not keep it in a shady spot.
(2). Soil or water that is too alkaline
If the soil or water is too alkaline, it affects the roots' absorption of trace elements, and the leaves will turn yellow, showing a watermelon-like pattern on the leaves.
Solution: Improve the soil and water quality. When watering and changing the water, add a little ferrous sulfate to the water, which can adjust the pH and also supplement iron.
(3). Improper fertilizing
Both too much and too little fertilizer can cause leaves to turn yellow. Yellowing from lack of fertilizer shows as the young leaves fading in color, with leaves turning yellow or pale green, while the old leaves remain normal, or turn from yellow back to green.
Solution: When fertilizing, you need to control the concentration and frequency. If too much fertilizer was applied, you need to replace it with plain soil for growing and spray more water on the leaves. Remove the plant from the pot and observe the roots. If the roots are black, short, or absent, it is root burn. In this case, you need to remove the burned root parts and replant. Whether it can survive depends on the severity of the root burn.
