The main pothos shapes include pole style, trailing style, waterfall style, long dragon style and so on. These are not strictly defined shapes, but mainly for easier understanding and reference. Let's take a look.
-Pole style-
Pole style is one of the most commonly used shapes. The pothos grows full and even, forming a green cylinder that is easy to move and convenient to place anywhere in the home. Generally, a small dragon jar, large flower tray or oil basin is used, with a pole about 1 m high in the middle, its surface covered with palm fiber. Plant 4-5 pothos plants around it, and it can take shape fairly quickly.
When the pothos stems and vines have covered the palm pole and the tips extend about 20 cm beyond the palm pole, cut off 40 cm of the stem tips of half of the pothos plants. After the shortened stems sprout new buds and new leaves, cut off the stem tips of the remaining pothos plants.
How to make a palm pole yourself
A palm pole can let pothos climb faster and gives it a better shape. The gardening friend "Strong Foam" from Pothos World Bar made a DIY pothos vine pole. First, buy a deep pot for 25 yuan, 33 cm wide and 36 cm high, and a drawer-style wheeled drip tray for 30 yuan.
A 75 mm PVC pipe, 1.5 m, costing 9 yuan. During use, it was found that 60 mm is more suitable.
The usual method is to drill holes in the PVC pipe and stuff growing medium inside. To increase stability, some sand is added inside the pole. Foam was made into a plug for the lower pipe opening.
For the stability of the pole, a tripod was made, and chopsticks were used as a base pad so that after the pole is placed in the pot it will not block the holes. A piece of old window screen is used as the bottom liner.
Palm fiber, 28 cm wide, one jin for 15 yuan
Start wrapping the pole. First wrap a layer of aquarium filter cotton, which retains moisture, breathes and is economical. A 1.5 m pipe needs two pieces.
Wash the palm fiber and let it dry. Palm fiber comes with palm ash, so it is recommended to wash it to remove the ash. Of course, when working with it, a lot of palm ash will still fly up, so it is recommended to do it in the bathroom, otherwise the room will get very dirty.
On the premise that it is enough, try to cut more of the smooth section at the front of each piece of palm fiber, so that after completion the surface will be very flat and it will be more conducive for the pothos to take root.
Prepare a few ropes and wrap the palm fiber around the pipe from the bottom upward. The smooth end of the palm fiber should face down. After wrapping one layer, take another piece to cover the seam of the first one, wrap the second layer, and wrap 3 layers in sequence. Fix it with rope.
Add the mixed soil, and stones for the drainage layer
Root the pothos in water in advance
Then place it into the pot soil
It's finished, isn't it not hard at all?
Trailing style
Plant 3-4 pothos plants in a pot. The trailing style generally uses hanging methods, or is placed on a windowsill, beside a desk or other high places. As the plant grows, the stems and leaves trail down along the pot rim, swaying in the wind and bringing the whole room to life.
Pothos placed in a high spot
Trailing down, it is very beautiful
Waterfall style
Use a long flower trough or place several pots of pothos horizontally, and hang them on the wall or place them on a wall top, balcony and other places. Let the pothos stems and leaves hang down, like a green waterfall falling from the sky, making the whole wall look as beautiful as a waterfall.
Long dragon style
Pothos needs some fixtures to climb the wall. Many gardening friends use cable clips to guide the growth of pothos, or use guiding objects such as string. Let the pothos wrap along the string in order, and lay it out according to the desired shape.
Many gardening friends have turned pothos into a background wall
Some gardening friends also have ingenious ideas and play with pothos shapes in all kinds of ways
