Snake plant, also known as Sansevieria, is a perennial herbaceous plant. Its leaves are thick, upright and fleshy, suitable for growing in the family living room or room balcony, to purify the air and beautify the environment. In the process of raising snake plant, raise it this way, and it will grow luxuriantly, constantly sprout small shoots, and even bloom flowers.

Snake plant cutting propagation method:

If you want to grow snake plant, you can directly propagate it from leaves. Choose healthy and plump leaves, cut them into three sections, each 6 cm long, and insert them into sand or vermiculite and other permeable sandy soil, with half in the soil and half exposed.

Sprinkle some fine sand on the soil surface, keep it slightly moist, and roots will grow in a month, gradually sprouting small leaves.

Care tips for potted snake plant:

Suitable temperature accelerates its growth, especially in an environment of 18°C to 27°C, which is the growth peak. If it is below 10°C, it will stop growing.

Potting soil is very important. Be sure not to use too sticky soil or pure sand. With this kind of soil, after watering it is not breathable, the water inside cannot evaporate, and it easily causes root rot. Be sure to use soil rich in humus. You can use leaf mold, garden soil and sand to grow snake plant. This way the root system is well developed and vigorous!

You can lay a few small stones at the bottom of the flower pot to increase drainage, so that the potting soil will not accumulate water and is breathable. Then use pine needle soil at the bottom of the pot as base fertilizer, which is very nutritious and prompts the snake plant to sprout more small shoots.

Spread a layer of small stones or sand grains on top of the snake plant's flower pot. The benefit of doing this is to ensure the soil has slight moisture without water accumulation, and usually just water a little. After more than two months, several new shoots will grow.

For snake plant kept at home, besides shading in summer, it must usually get more sun, even placing it close to sunlight is fine. Repot once every two years, cut off some old roots and old leaves, and replace with new fertile and loose soil.

Do not fertilize too much. Fertilize twice during the growing season. Do not always use nitrogen fertilizer, otherwise the patterns on the leaves will fade. You can use compound fertilizer, or bury a few cooked soybeans in the flower pot soil, cover them well with soil, water thoroughly once, and after a month new shoots will keep sprouting.

Snake plant is a root-propagating plant. After a year, you can harvest a full pot of snake plant, constantly producing side shoots and multiple heads, growing vigorously, and it can even bloom!
