If the leaves of a money tree (Pachira aquatica) are wilted and listless, it is most likely root rot and you need to treat it as soon as possible

Once the branches of a money tree have gone soft, the first thing to do is check whether it has developed rot disease; if so, you need to cut off the rotted roots, then wash the trimmed roots once and sprinkle them with a medicated solution; if it has been treated with an antiviral agent, you also need to replace the soil. After that, reduce watering and regularly move it out into the sun so it receives weaker light.
1. Cut off the rotted roots
Once you notice its branches have gone soft, the first thing to do is check whether it has developed rot disease, because during the plant's growth, if it is not cared for properly, it easily catches this disease. If it really has this disease, it is actually quite easy to solve: first pull its roots out of the soil and check how severe the rot is; if it is severe, you need to cut off all these rotted roots to prevent infection of other parts.
2. Sprinkle with a medicated solution
Many people may think that after cutting off the rotted roots it should recover right away, but that is not the case; we also need to spray it with a medicated solution, wash the trimmed roots with water, and if the roots were previously treated with an antiviral agent, we also need to replace the potting soil and plant it again, and spray a solution such as Ridomil once a week.
3. Reduce watering
We said above that its branches going soft is very likely caused by rot disease, but the cause of this disease is overwatering, so after the roots have been dealt with, pay attention to routine care, reduce watering as much as possible, and prevent water from accumulating in the pot, which would make the root rot worse.
4. Put it in the sun
After all the above steps are done, we move it out into the sun to sun it, but be careful that it must not be strong light; weak sunlight is enough. If it is accidentally placed in strong light, the branches will go even softer, and other problems may even appear.
