How to tell Graptopetalum macdougallii and Graptoveria 'Jadeita' apart? The method will surprise you

Recently I have seen some sellers mistakenly selling Graptopetalum macdougallii as Graptoveria 'Jadeita',
and some plants turned out not to be true to name,
so today let's talk about the difference between Graptopetalum macdougallii and Graptoveria 'Jadeita'.
First, let's talk about Graptopetalum macdougallii,
red Graptopetalum macdougallii = Graptopetalum macdougallii, that is, the ordinary Graptopetalum macdougallii, and adding "red" still means the ordinary Graptopetalum macdougallii.
Graptopetalum macdougallii GraptopetalumMACDOUGALLII,
The leaves are rather narrow, the leaf tips are relatively pointed, the texture is translucent, and the leaves are sometimes rather thick; the leaf tips show a slight pink under light, gradually spreading over the whole leaf.

Next is Graptoveria 'Jadeita', Graptoveria 'Jadeita' = Jade Tower. Graptoveria 'Jadeita' xGraptoveriaJadeita, its hybrid parentage is Parentage:GraptopetalummacdougalliixEcheveriaspec. Graptopetalum macdougallii * a certain Echeveria.

In terms of plant characters, Graptoveria 'Jadeita' has longer side branches and grows prostrate, while Graptopetalum macdougallii is a typical small variety, with leaves 2.5-3.5 cm long, whereas Graptoveria 'Jadeita' is a large variety, with a rosette diameter of up to 12cm. Graptoveria 'Jadeita' has the typical character of broad leaves, while Graptopetalum macdougallii has narrow, small and pointed leaves.

Let the decoding begin
But since it is hard to distinguish the leaves by thickness and width when the plant is small, how should we tell them apart? Through observation I found that the leaf growth pattern of the two is very distinctive. First we number the leaves according to their growth order, then connect them with lines.

An interesting phenomenon appears: we can observe that in Graptoveria 'Jadeita', all the odd-numbered leaves overlap in sequence, and all the even-numbered leaves overlap in sequence, whereas in Graptopetalum macdougallii, although the first few leaves overlap (because the leaves at the growing point are dense and have not yet spread out), there is no overlapping afterwards, and this character runs through the whole growth stage of both varieties.
That is, the narrow, long leaves of Graptopetalum macdougallii are more "open", while the broad, long leaves of Graptoveria 'Jadeita' are more "tight"
There is also a very pretty candy-colored Graptopetalum macdougallii
