Leo Succulent | Norma

Norma | Introduction

Chinese name: Norma, ruler constellation, square constellation.

Family and genus: Crassulaceae, Echeveria

Difficulty level: ★★☆☆☆

Suitable spaces: Balcony, office desk, windowsill

Norma | How to identify

Leaves are arranged in a rosette, leaves are long spoon-shaped, with a nearly triangular front end, having a leaf tip, the front part of the leaf curves upward, outer leaves are higher than the central new leaves, and the plant shape is like a bowl.

Norma looks a bit like a claw, the claw tip color is between red claw and black claw, and the leaves are wider than various claws. It looks roughly the same all year round, whether it shows its colors or not it stays about the same, making it relatively low-maintenance to grow. Beheaded seedlings placed on soil can grip the soil firmly in about two weeks, easily produce flower stalks, and tend to produce multiple flower stalks at once.

Norma | Care tips

The cool spring and autumn seasons are the growing period, so provide as much light as possible and occasionally apply some slow-release fertilizer. In summer, high temperatures force it into dormancy, so moderate ventilation, shading and water control are needed. In winter, when the temperature drops below 5°C, gradually stop watering and place it on a bright windowsill indoors to overwinter, protecting it from frost. Actually, when the temperature is not very low, it is best to keep the tough plants outdoors to improve their cold resistance and prevent etiolation.
