Everyone is probably not very familiar with the orange jasmine plant; what you have likely heard more about is the mock orange (Murraya paniculata). It is an evergreen shrub, but it can also be used as a medicinal herb. So keeping it at home is quite suitable.

Of course, since it is being grown as a potted plant, it must be given good living conditions. The first is soil, then there are the usual issues of watering, temperature and so on. Orange jasmine does not have many requirements for soil; ordinary soil will do, but since we grow bonsai precisely to make it grow better, we can appropriately choose the soil that suits it best. Also, orange jasmine does not like sunlight, so if you keep orange jasmine at home, it is best to place it in a spot with bright indirect light, where it can occasionally also get some sunlight.

This point needs attention, because most plants need sunlight, so many people assume all plants like sunlight, but in fact orange jasmine cannot be exposed to direct sunlight all the time. The matter of watering orange jasmine needs attention, because it rather likes a moist growing environment, so it is best to water it often. In spring and summer, just like people eat, you can water it once after a meal; in summer you can reduce the frequency a bit, once a day is enough. What you need to note is that in winter, when the temperature is too low, you must not water it, as that may cause the plant to suffer frost damage.

There is also the fact that orange jasmine bonsai needs fertilizing, especially since it is a flowering plant; before it blooms and when it has flower buds, you should fertilize it more, so as to ensure it can produce better flowers.

Note that because orange jasmine does not like sunlight, when you first start growing it you must not put it in the sunlight, and you must not put it on a balcony, because a balcony is generally the place that gets the most sunlight; it is best to put it in a relatively shady place, and after a week slowly give it a bit more sunlight. Orange jasmine bonsai also needs its soil turned, its pot changed and its soil replaced. Roughly every two or three years you can repot it.

At this time its growth is already very vigorous, so you can change it to a larger flower pot, letting it grow better and giving it more nutrients. Of course, when repotting and changing the soil, you should also pay attention to cutting off those roots that look old and leftover. Since it is a bonsai, the issue of pruning also cannot be ignored: if you want orange jasmine to grow very well, then you must prune it often. Everyone should be quite familiar with pruning bonsai; all plants are the same, cut off those old branches and dead branches that do not need to be kept. This not only makes the appearance more beautiful, but also benefits its growth.

There is one more point to note: because orange jasmine is a plant with a rather strong fragrance, it is best not to put it in the place where you usually sleep, as this will affect your state of sleep.
