National Organic Agriculture Forum convenes, President thanks farmers for their perseverance and sense of mission
Our country has been promoting organic farming for 30 years, but it has always been driven mainly by the private sector. After 17 years of effort, the Organic Agriculture Promotion Act was finally brought into being, promulgated by President Tsai Ing-wen on May 30 this year, and will take effect next year, formally giving the government the obligation to promote organic farming. However, what should the direction of promotion be? How can existing difficulties be improved? While the outside world places high hopes on it, many doubts have also arisen.
The Yangshan Foundation, the main promoter of the act, held its first national forum after the act was passed. In addition to the President personally attending to deliver a speech expressing support at the national level, the Minister of the Council of Agriculture and the Control Yuan members also attended and spoke, all of which signifies that organic promotion has reached a nationwide milestone.
