Amaryllis, also known as red flower lotus and pair-pair red, is a perennial herb with tough dark green leaves and beautiful, vivid, lively flowers that bloom facing the sun. It has high ornamental value and is deeply loved by many flower enthusiasts.

Amaryllis most commonly blooms once a year, and more rarely twice. Today Huar just wants to tell everyone: after the amaryllis finishes blooming, do these 3 things well and flower buds will sprout in abundance for another bloom!

1. Pruning to nourish the bulb

After the amaryllis finishes blooming, prune it promptly: cut off the flower stalk to reduce nutrient consumption, and also prune away some old leaves, withered leaves and overly dense leaves, so that nutrients are concentrated on nourishing the bulb, allowing the bulb to grow and produce new bulbs, promoting the plant's growth and enabling it to keep sending up flower stalks to bloom the next time.

2. Controlling watering

After blooming, watering must be well controlled. In the first month, water less and keep it appropriately dry, so the bulb accumulates reserves in a semi-dormant state and builds up more nutrients. After one month, resume normal watering; you can increase the humidity a little to promote flower bud differentiation and the emergence of flower stalks.

3. Fertilizer amount

After pruning, fertilize promptly as well, mainly with phosphorus and potassium fertilizer liquid, applying diluted fertilizer. You can add some superphosphate to the potting soil as a base fertilizer to increase soil fertility. After one month, continue applying diluted liquid fertilizer once every 7-10 days, so it recovers quickly and is encouraged to take root and sprout.

One more thing: to keep the amaryllis growing vigorously and blooming early, you must prevent some pests and diseases, so spray a 0.1% carbendazim solution every month. Each spraying should be done at around 9 am or around 4 pm to avoid causing phytotoxicity.

That is all for amaryllis care. If you have anything to add, feel free to share it with everyone in the comments section below. To learn more about flower-growing knowledge, you can follow Huajianke!
