For those growing spider plants at home, let me teach you a few pruning methods so they grow glossy green and lush!

Pruning leaves: cut off the yellow leaves, dead leaves on the outer edge, and the scorched yellow parts on the leaf tips. When pruning, cut at an angle so it looks more natural. Pruning runners: the runners on the plant will grow new stems and leaves, and any that are growing poorly should be removed promptly. Pruning roots: after growing it for a while, you should repot it with fresh soil.

1. Pruning leaves

During growth, it will develop yellow leaves, diseased leaves, dead leaves, leggy leaves or broken leaves, and these should all be pruned promptly once spotted. When pruning, do not cut straight across; cut at an angle, ideally making one angled cut on each side so it looks more natural. In early to mid-May, cutting off some of the old leaves will encourage the spider plant to grow new leaves faster.

2. Pruning runners

The runners on the plant will grow new stems and leaves, which you can choose to cut off or keep. You can appropriately shorten or simply cut off the longer runners; after being cut, they will sprout new stems and leaves.

3. Pruning roots

The spider plant is a perennial plant with a fairly developed root system, so after growing it for a while you should repot it with fresh soil, to prevent the roots from becoming too dense, which causes the spider plant's leaves to turn yellow and wither. Generally, you need to change the potting soil once every 2-3 years, and when doing so you can prune the old roots, rotten roots and excess roots.

4. Pruning management

The spider plant likes a warm, humid, semi-shady environment, so after pruning, place it in a ventilated, cool spot. Its suitable growing temperature is 15-25°C, and it is best kept indoors.
