Dahlias have a long blooming period of nearly half a year, and each flower can last 1 month. The blooming periods are from May to June and from September to November. They are one of the species with the most flower varieties in the world and symbolize good fortune and beauty. Their blooms are brilliant and colorful, magnificent and elegant, and very beautiful. Below are the flowering tips for dahlias!

Flowering tips for dahlias:

(1). Sufficient light

Whether dahlias are grown in pots or outdoors, they need sufficient light so that the flowers can bloom large and brightly. For home care, place them on a balcony or windowsill with good light as much as possible, which helps the plant bloom earlier and can also extend the blooming time. In insufficient light, the flower buds do not develop fully, making it difficult to bloom. However, during high summer temperatures, appropriate shading measures are still needed. Too intense light will harm the plant and also cause it to enter a dormant state. This affects the plant's growth and flowering.

(2). Suitable temperature

Dahlias are not cold-tolerant and prefer a bright, warm environment. The most suitable growing temperature is 15-25 degrees, which ensures better plant growth and earlier flowering. It must not exceed 32 degrees, or the plant will enter a dormant state, at which point growth slows and flowering is affected.

(3). Reasonable watering

Dahlias have fleshy roots with water-storage ability, so they should not be watered too much, as this can cause waterlogging and root rot. In addition, the soil must be loose, breathable and well-draining. Compacted soil easily causes waterlogging and root rot. Dahlias have many leaves and large flowers, so their water demand is also high. High temperatures and dryness can easily cause the leaves to wilt, so they need to be watered immediately, with thorough watering as the standard, as long as there is no waterlogging.

(4). Care after flowering

After the dahlia blooming period, part of it falls during summer. Note that this is a season with high temperatures and abundant rain. When growing them outdoors, pay attention to shading and rain protection, otherwise waterlogging can easily cause root rot.
