How to care for snake plants in summer? Master these care tips

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
In summer, it is best to keep snake plants indoors in a spot with indirect light, away from direct harsh sunlight; if grown outdoors, provide proper shade. There is no need to water too frequently, just keep the soil slightly moist, and there must be no excess standing water in the potting soil. In addition, keep the temperature below 30°C; if it gets too hot, take reasonable cooling measures and open windows for ventilation in the morning and evening.

1. Proper lighting

Snake plants are quite sensitive to heat, so in summer give them proper shade and do not expose them to direct strong sunlight. If growing them indoors in summer, place them where they can receive indirect light. Generally, keep them in a semi-shaded environment and provide appropriate light.

2. Moderate watering

Water snake plants on the principle of preferring dryness over moisture; the potting soil should not be too wet, let alone waterlogged. They are drought-tolerant, and if the roots remain waterlogged for a long time, rot will occur. There is no need to water too frequently; just keep the soil slightly moist, and water thoroughly each time. Also, when watering, do not cut off the leaf core, as this can cause the plant to rot.

3. Suitable temperature

Snake plants are very sensitive to heat, so when the temperature is relatively high, take appropriate cooling measures; the suitable temperature for their growth is 20-28°C. In summer, if the temperature exceeds 30°C, you can keep them indoors, but do not let the air conditioner blow on them directly, and open the windows for proper ventilation in the morning and evening.
