Plants should be raised the tough way: the more diligent you are, the faster they die
Moss rose
Moss rose is also called "can't-die," which shows just how easy it is to grow. Scatter a handful of seeds on the ground and the whole yard bursts into bloom!
1. Super drought-tolerant
Moss rose has strong drought tolerance. It's fine without water for 10 days to half a month, and watering too often actually makes the roots rot easily.
2. Give it a little light and it shines
Moss rose loves light and will bloom as long as there is light. In summer, put it on a south-facing or west-facing balcony, leave it alone, and it easily bursts into a full pot!
3. No need to fertilize
As an annual herbaceous flower, moss rose is extremely tolerant of poor soil. The nutrients in the soil are enough, and there is absolutely no need to fertilize. It's very nice for lazy people!
4. Self-seeding propagation
Moss rose seeds have a strong ability to self-sow. If planted in the ground, you scatter seeds the first year, and in the following years you don't need to worry at all. It blooms when the time comes, and you just wait to enjoy it!
Spider plant
Spider plants are in every home, and they are also a typical flower that is easy to keep alive and easy to fill a pot. Once they go wild, you simply can't stop them.
1. Poor light is no problem
Although spider plants like light, they also tolerate partial shade. Too much or too little light is fine, and they can grow well on both south-facing and north-facing balconies!
2. It's okay not to water often
The roots of spider plants are thick and sturdy, with strong drought tolerance and water storage. You don't need to water too often. If you go out for ten days or so, there's no problem at all.
3. Stick it in soil and it lives
Spider plants can send out runners from their axillary buds. Cut them off and stick them in soil and they will survive. It doesn't matter if they don't look ideal, just cut them off and let them grow again!
Madagascar periwinkle
Madagascar periwinkle is best grown outdoors, living off the sky, with an extremely long flowering period. It blooms for as long as it wants.
1. Sun it however you like
Madagascar periwinkle especially loves light and tolerates sun. In summer it doesn't even need shading. The more sun it gets, the brighter it blooms. Just put it on a south-facing balcony and leave the rest alone!
2. Don't water it all the time
Madagascar periwinkle has shallow roots and hates wetness and waterlogging. It's fine without water for 10 days to half a month. Water again when you see the soil turn pale or small cracks appear. Watering too often easily causes root rot.
3. Cuttings are easy to keep alive
Even if Madagascar periwinkle is almost dead, don't worry. Cut a branch, stick it in soil and water it thoroughly, or just throw it in water, and it will root quickly. The survival rate is especially high.
Snake plant
Snake plant is native to western Africa, has extremely strong growth power, and also has a strong air-purifying ability, making it very suitable for indoor growing.
1. Tolerates shade and isn't afraid of sun
Snake plant is very shade-tolerant and also isn't afraid of sun. It can grow strong on a balcony of any orientation!
2. Likes moisture yet tolerates drought
Snake plant likes warm, humid environments and can grow strong even under summer's high temperature and high humidity, but it is also very drought-tolerant. Some flower lovers haven't watered it for one or two months, and it still didn't die.
3. Break off a leaf and you can propagate it
Turning 1 pot of snake plant into 10 pots is also easy: choose a robust leaf, cut it into several sections, let them dry, then stick them in sandy soil and keep it ventilated. In about 20 days they will root and survive!
Mint
Mint has few demands on its environment. Give it enough light and water, and it easily fills a pot!
1. Lots of water and lots of sun
Mint is best kept on a south-facing balcony. Water it well, bake it in the sun, and within 3 days it fills the pot. You can even just throw it in water without worrying about root rot or sunburn.
2. Cut once, grow a new flush
Mint grows fastest in summer. Don't be reluctant to prune it; the more you cut, the more it grows. A few snips and the effect is astonishing!
Besides these few flowers, aloe, pothos, cactus, kalanchoe, and pennywort are all also suitable for tough love.
