Reasons and Solutions for Yellowing Leaves with Spots on Gardenia

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
There are many reasons for yellowing leaves with spots on gardenia: if it is caused by inappropriate light, it needs to be placed in a sunny spot for care, and shaded when the sun is scorching. If it is caused by long-term improper watering, the amount of watering needs to be controlled, and there must not be excess standing water in the soil. If it is caused by too much fertilizer, more watering is needed to dilute the excess fertilizer, and fertilizer should be applied lightly and frequently.

1. Appropriate Light

Cause: Gardenia is a sun-loving plant. If it grows for a long time in a dark environment without light, its leaves will gradually turn yellow and may even fall off; if it is exposed to the scorching sun for a long time, the leaves will also turn yellow and develop spots.

Solution: At this point it needs to be moved to a sunny spot for care. When the scorching sun appears in summer, it should be shaded, or moved to a cool place with diffused light.

2. Moderate Watering

Cause: With improper watering over a long period, the leaves will turn yellow and develop spots. If watering is usually excessive, the root system is very prone to rot, and the leaves will gradually wither and turn yellow.

Solution: If the usual watering amount is too small, gradually increase it; if the watering amount is large, pause watering for a short time and place it in a well-ventilated spot for care. After it recovers its growth, reduce the watering amount.

3. Scientific Fertilizing

Cause: Both excessive fertilizing and a lack of fertilizer in daily care can produce this phenomenon. If the usual fertilizer amount is large, fertilizer burn will occur, the root system will be scorched, and the leaves will turn yellow as a result.

Solution: If the fertilizer amount is large, water more to dilute the excess fertilizer as quickly as possible. After the leaves recover, resume normal care, and in daily fertilizing, apply fertilizer lightly and frequently.
