Taking cuttings of flowers is one of the great joys of growing plants, but the biggest problem with cuttings is rooting. Many plants are quite difficult to root when propagated from cuttings, so rooting water is indispensable. However, rooting water is not commonly available either, yet some common everyday items can serve the purpose of rooting water.

1. Rice vinegar solution

Choose high-quality rice vinegar, dilute it with clean water at a ratio of 1 to 100, soak the cuttings in it overnight before planting, then take them out and plant them. This can significantly increase the survival rate and also make the cuttings grow faster and stronger.

2. Aspirin solution

Soaking cuttings in a 0.01% aspirin solution can significantly increase the germination rate and also promote rooting. Aspirin contains natural salicylic acid, so it has the effect of promoting rooting in cuttings.

3. Willow twig infusion

As mentioned above, aspirin contains a certain amount of salicylic acid, which promotes plant rooting, so the infusion of willow twigs is also an excellent plant growth agent. Its liquid is rich in growth hormones, and using it as a growth agent does not harm the plants and results in fast rooting.

The method of use is also very simple: crush willow twigs and soak them in water, then take them out after about a day. The remaining water is the willow infusion. Generally, soak the cuttings in it for about a day, then plant them, and they will root relatively quickly and the plants will grow robustly.

4. Honey water

Generally, growth hormones are needed during cutting propagation to promote rooting. We can dip the cuttings in honey, which can also promote rooting and increase the survival rate of the cuttings.

Autumn is about to arrive, and in this suitable season for taking cuttings, we can use these rooting waters to promote plant rooting. When the temperature drops and it becomes cool, we can start propagating our potted plants.
